Mk3 Bugdet Brakes
Hi
Looking at changing my brakes over, the fronts are 256s, so all i was thinking was putting some drilled 256s and a gd set of pads on.
Now the rears are drum, but was thinking of changing to disc, got a rough idea what is needed, but would like to double check with you lot.

Re: Mk3 Bugdet Brakes
easiest way would be to steal all the parts off one with discs already on it.
if they are the same as mk2 discs you will need.
stub axles with bolts, calipers with bolts, discs, pads, wheel bearings, hand brake cables, brake bias valve and brake lines.
nice and simple to do.

Might just be easier to pick up a whole rear beam? at least you'd have everything you needed straight up.
To be honest, I'd stay clear if drilled discs, in my experience all they do is clog full of dust, overheat and warp. Grooved are better.

I agree with this, I've seen a few drilled discs crack before, stick with grooved. As for pads see if you can get a set of Mintex 1144's, they're great for road use and can stand up to track punishment as well.
Why do you want to change the rears to discs? Rear brakes do almost nothing on a small car so the drums are perfectly good for road use
