Re: aircooled squareback joins the party
okay this is the floor that was patched up by the previous owner...
because im designing a whole new floor with NO heater channels ive got to alter this side to match too...
look at this shit ive cut out lol
and when it was off it didnt leave much lol
so i welded a new piece in that will sit underr the sill
heres the sill just propped on to show what it will look like when welded
i then had these 'fake' heater channels made by a good buddy 1.5mtr long with exact measurements to the ones i cut out
and heres the floor from the fasty that will soon be going in
and finally the inner curve arch requires all new pieces and will be getting 2 of these made up later today by the same good buddy
so the floor will have the sills and heater channels just no tube in the middle and no heat fron the back.
the floor itself will be attached to the heater channels so yes its all connected but this is my design on a budget and it will not suit everyones taste but trust me it will be awsum!

Re: aircooled squareback joins the party
the sills both sides are fully welded in.
popped to see my good buddy with that piece from the inner front arch and with his machine press and roller we created exact replicas for that area...i made slighty bigger so i can trim to fit...this will be done anyday as soon as the rain fuks off!!!!
and whilst i was cramped in the footwell i also bare metalled the front came up sweet!
and those 1.5mtr long replica heater channels i had made??
they look great!!
just gotta trim em up front when i weld the front inner arch so i can then weld it all together for a snug fit!
ok so im well pleased how well this donor floor from a fasty 71 went in....
it looks all in but it isnt yet....
theres a gap between the edge of the floor and the underneath of the channels and sill.
my intentions are to weld a sheet in the same length as the sill and create a small
'step' up to the sill lip and then bend the sill lip upto the channel and 'nip' the floor
edge into this if that makes any sense...
fotos will show you what i mean when i do it this coming week.
also got the lower corner edges in

wahay thanx 4 the warm welcome guys!!
Ill def be coming to a meet when thius babies on the tarmac!!
well heres more updates and its cookin wi gas!
the seat runners on the chassis tubing were fine but the outer ones on the channels wer
totally fkkd!
so i made some runners and welded the small piece i had left to them and in turn welded them to
the floor..
now the seats are in and work spot on!
and ysday i finally got to swap the driver door over.
I sourced a solid pair of doors thru my southern mate tom the geek from OZ! (the doors not tom )
had to swap locks n glass which was a pain in the ass!
passenger door today!

Re: aircooled squareback joins the party
the plan is mot march...could be sooner like last week of feb if things goto planlemski wrote:whens this gracing the roads of gy?
but do plans ever come true??
thats y ther aint a set date its just a case of gettin it done asap!!
got 1 front wing primered today
got rear seats fitted
finished sealing underside gotta tetroseal it anytime.
exhaust is a pain in the ass i got 1 awkward bolt left then itl drop out and my mates making me a new un
then its gotta have the engine serviced and correcting any faults (it ran sweet with the previous owner but that
was sat in his driveway cos it had no floor lol) he just ticked it over every week.
doing electrics this weekend so they could be sorted this week!
then whack wings on slam the fukka and get cruising!!!!

i like a man with plans, what suspension set up is actually on these or are you of air to just shlam it to the deck when you need to. shame it wont be ready for this meet. which is a few days away. i cant wait to see it rolling round. can give it a quick flash while i am driving the mk2. i'm a fan of air cooled but not got money to do a project, the misses wants a beetle though, so i'll have to build one in the future for her.
