Scirocco Scala - Ash-Lough
Though I’d best start one of these seeing as though I can’t stop spending on the car.
I’ll just do pics up until how the car looks now enjoy!
And heres how it stands now….
List of things to do next:
Brake conversion – 256mm w/greenstuff pads
Drivers side wing sprayed
Cambelt change
Sort aerial out
Put it through an MOT
Any ideas for the cambelt change? It really needs doing soon – is it worth trying myself/should I get the garage to do it so its done right?
Or is there anyone on here who might be able to help

cambelt is easy mate, loads of room in there too. Just remeber that you will most likely have to check the ignition timing afterwards. Again, fairly easy to do...

Re: Scirocco Scala - Ash-Lough
Your always welcome to pop down here one day and I'l give you a hand mate, I've got the tools and the knowledge (and a haynes manual ). There are timing marks but I always mark the block and pulleys with tippex to be 100% sure I don't get it a tooth out. Once the belts off its not hat easy to turn the cam/crank pulleys anyways so they shouldn't really move unless you do something silly

Re: Scirocco Scala - Ash-Lough
Just take it slowly. Have a read on the relevant section on the online haynes manual I posted. The only tricky bit is getting the outer crank pulley off as it tends to spin when you undo the 3 allen key bolts holding it on

I really like the painted rear tow hook. (and the rest of the car)
But you've got me thinking now.

I chose to paint a few things blue for some reason, different I guess.
What has it got you thinking?
Also are you running 15" alloys? if so what size tyres you have on? Cos yours sits exactly how I want mine to...in fact I will swap your stance for my rear tow hook if you're interested?

.....er, I'll stick with my stance please! LOL!
No idea what to do yet, probably just silver to neaten it up. Not sure what else would look good with red and the rest of my car.
The wheels are 15" by 7.5" with 185/45/15 tyres. Looking like this,

I like that tyre size not sure whether to get some new tyres or wait till these are done...
Rocco is finally booked in to a garage tomorrow for the bulkhead welding. Don't know why I didn't sort it sooner!
I did however fit this tonight, been wanting one of these grills since I got the car, what you think? I wanted the longer one, but to keep the VW badge

Re: Scirocco Scala - Ash-Lough
Not a great update really. Car failed its MOT last Friday on; emissions, rear brakes (service and parking) and outer cv gaiter. Overall I was pretty happy nothing big was wrong and this wasnt a "friendly" MOT either!!
Managed to adjust the brakes and sort the handbrake, until it snapped the first time I used it.
Will be fitting new cables and the gaiter on Saturday I hope and it should fly through the re-test next week.
Still need to; save for a big welding jobbie on the bulkhead, have the wing sprayed, get some better tyres, clean the engine bay and give it a good clean, clay, wax and polish. Then the tax and insurance will run out which is always fun.
Not feeling much love for it at the moment!
