Could anyone time me if this hole in the yellow bit is normal??
Looks like its been punchered...thinking it might explain my high idle issue??

Re: hole in my idle control??
I cant see it making much of a difference tbh, but you could try sealing the hole up?

£55 from 'theairflowcompany' on egay. They arent the highest quality but do stand to a one year warranty. Which aint bad considering a gsf one will set you back £180
Re: hole in my idle control??
bugger that...I'll try and find a second hand one kicking about ...or seal mine again...I cant think I can be that on its own? Basically my car's idle increases the hotter it gets...cold it revs just over 1000 (high anyway) but by the time it gets hot it can rise to about 2500 to 3000...really odd, only started doing it about 2 or 3 days ago :S

I wouldn't know how to check them to be honest...I was thinking it might be the blue one up to its old tricks, but dont wanna blow £15 quid on a new on if its not at fault

Re: hole in my idle control??
Look it up online, its merely a thermistor so should have a higher resistance the hotter the temp gets.
Re: hole in my idle control??
aye....seems to be working alright....just had the idle control off again, cleaned it out and turned the idle down on the throttle body and so far it seems to have worked...gonna take it out for a run tonight and see what he does...Can only describe it as he was holding on to revs...if I changed gear at 2000 it would hold at 2000 even with my foot off the throttle then would drop after maybe 2 or 3 seconds. Other times it would idle at 2500 for no reason lol... got that bad at one point I could do 30 in 5th without my foot on the throttle lol

Just a thought, have you checked the throttle switches and wireing?

Re: hole in my idle control??
You can check it with a multimeter, it's all detailed in the Haynes manual. If you haven't got a manual I've got one in pdf format I could email you

On another note, I have found that spare PB throttle body I knew I had somewhere! Has a throttle switch on it too.
