anyone up for some track time? cheap?
howdy. dont know if anyone has been to blyton before (between gainsborough and scunthorpe) but there used to be a rally school there. they had a tarmac track about a mile long and they used to allow people to use it for "test days". i have not been for a few years but it used to be about £50 for the day and generally there were very few people there. they would also rent the track out for £450 a day.
it is now under new ownership but i have just emailed them to see if they still operate in a similar manner.
if they do is anyone up for some track action? you dont need a fancy car and you dont have to push it. remember, it is a test day not a track day!

I would be well up for this, so thats your price halved already lol
Re: anyone up for some track time? cheap?
ha i wasnt planning on renting the whole track just for myself!
it was ace when we used to go. the first time we had a bit of a safety briefing then the owner took us for a sighting lap in his impreza, pointed out the rough line and where the pot holes were (its rough offline. concrete surface so eats slicks). gave us a few hints and advised us against putting the car on its roof.
the rules were to give the people on rally driving days a bit of space when they were on track and if anything happens dial 999!
they know we were using it as a cheap trackday but knew we were sensible too.
after a few sessions there he gave me an fia spec matter cage for the golf. he really was a great guy.
last time we were there we were on track with a few rally teams. 911, nissan 240z, astra , escort cossie and a couple of mk2 escorts. there was a metro 6r4 there once too. i think they were all actually testing though and were considerably faster than us!
hopefully the new owners are just as enthused.

Be the smoothest by a county mile, its rediculas. It does have an 'S' button though. Would map tech map a XJR?
Re: anyone up for some track time? cheap?
is is supe-diddly-upercharged isnt it?
it isnt on the list of mappable cars but that only means nobody has set the protocols for one as yet. i will ask gareth. if its a serious enquiry then exact model would be needed purleese

2002/3. I have just had a look on paramount perfromanced website and it seems to be offering only 20hp gains for like 600 quid. They are meant to be top end jag tuners too
Re: anyone up for some track time? cheap?
ouch. depending on whether the boost can be altered on the charger will have the decider as to the gains. with 20bhp by a specialist, i suspect it can't. Gareth would be £200 tops, unless it was a full custom map in which case £600 isnt too bad
Re: anyone up for some track time? cheap?
