MK2 problem??? Empty MK2 problem???

Post  SLIMboyJIM Thu Feb 03, 2011 11:10 pm

I left my car running while I was talking to someone for about 20 mins with the lights on. When I got back in it the engine cut out as my arse touched the seat?
I tried to restart it but all I got was a stobe of clicking noise. Put the battery on charge and it started fine. When I was driving home though I noticed my MFA had stopped working??? WTF...never knwn this happen before. It was still the same this morning. Then got in it to drive home and it all seems to be working again???
any ideas what happened?

Do a test across the battery when the car isnt on and it should be 12v, then start her and it should be 14v. If she isnt reading 14 on start the alternator is fooked and if she doesnt read 12 when the car is off the battery is fooked. Test on the connectors, not the battery terminals themselves

I know nthe battery is ok cos it cost me nearly £60 about three months ago! Gonna do an alternator test at the weekend. I was more bothered about why the MFA decided to stopworkin then start again?

dont worry bout the mfa, mine started working one time and shocked me, then quickly stopped again, could be a loose wire in one side of the clocks or something jim
