Mk3 Golf rear axle/G60 calipers &discs

Right ive recently done a full brake conversion on Potter and these are some bits that are left.

Back axle 1376mm(the wide one you want for mk2 Widetrack conversion)This is complete,with 2 brand new drums,2 brand new wheel cylinders good shoes good bushes and both handbrake cables.Also has the brake bias valve which works fine and dandy.
If you want you can stick this on your mk2 take the stub axles off and pop discs on it.Jobs a gudn. £30

Also have 2 GIRLING 54 calipers both have been stripped,cleaned and painted in high temp black enamel.Bleed nipples are free and they come with flexi's.They have carriers for 256mm discs which you can have but if you want to run 280mm discs you just need 280mm carriers.They come with good 5x100pcd 280mm discs too.Just buy pads and you away. £40

Also have a full 239mm front brake set up.Includes calipers,discs pads front hubs and all the other bumf that goes with it.All working good nick.Comes off a MK3 1.8 Golf £30 the lot!

Wish I'd known you have carriers for 16v front brakes! I'd have had them off you but I've gone and got 239mm discs now

Ive got a full set up for the front of your car to take it to either 256 or 280mm just need discs.

So you have carriers to move the caliper out for 259 and 280s? I thought I'd need 16v hubs to go up to 280s?

How much for the carriers? I could just take the discs back to gsf and change them for bigger discs

Sorry mate i thought you had put 16v hubs on the front.I will measure the mounting hole centres for you in the morning so you can check but i dont think they fit normal gti hubs.

As far as I'm aware the carriers are the same for G60s, if you fit them to an 8v you can fit 259s, if you fit them to 16v hubs you can fit 280s. I'd be happy with 259s as my P slots won't go over the 280s, or the 14" gti steels I'm getting tomorrow. How much just for the carriers mate? I believe they just bolt to the hub and the caliper bolts to that to space the caliper out a bit? Would be an ideal set up for me as I have a 16v master cylinder to fit as well.

£10 mate id give you em but it's gunna make shifting the calipers a bit harder so

Sound mate I'l try and get to GSF tomorrow to see if I can swap them new 239s to 259s, bet they'l want another tenner on top as well the robbing barstewards. If they're gonna want something daft like £20 on top for the 259s I might have to give it a miss as I'm skint

Just checked my receipt, I paid £19.50 +VAT each for the 239s, and the website says the 256s are £18.30 each, I guess plus VAT, if thats the case, I should get some money back!

Awesome. Fancy giving me a hand fitting them? (In other words I'm too much of a weakling to get the bolt undone and I need a big bald bloke to rescue me)

Yeah thursday is good for me mate,if my brake bleeding kit doesnt get here by then you can help me bleed the brakes once i put my new master cylinder on too.

You positive they will fit then? hold on a sec i might have some discs.

May as well fit my 16v master cylinder at the same time then haha. If you have some decent 256mm discs that would be awesome, but I'm not sure GSF will let me return the new ones, they'd probably give me a credit note.

Just checked dude i havnt got the discs anymore for some reason.No bolts either but surely yours will go back?Ber the one thats buggered.
hole centres of the carriers are 95mm btw

I think GSF sell the caliper bolts, might have to get some as long as they ain't silly money. Don't think I'l have time to go there tomorrow so I'l shoot down there on Thursday morning and try swapping the 239s for an extra 17mm of awesomeness

I think the part number of number 3 would only be applicable if I was getting it from VW wouldn't it? Them carriers can't be very big if they've only got to space the caliper out 8.5mm? You got a pic of it on ETKA?

Yeah you just give em the partnumber and they will sort it for you.
What is it you want a pic of?

The carrier itself to space the caliper out. Just curious as I know of them but never seen one.
