T4 Auto gearbox
Hi guys,
I'm having a small problem with my VW T4 caravelle auto gearbox.
It's a bit of an intermitent problem, sometimes it's as if it isn't in the correct gear and revs high then eventually selects the right gear.
I've had it checked by the guys at VW in Louth, and they couldn't detect the fault.
Any ideas out there?
I have got a number of a specialist in Boston, just wondered if there was anybody more local to Grimsby.
Cheers
Connor

Re: T4 Auto gearbox
It sounds like a electrical problem to me. How much is a re-con box/replacing senders and things like that? Also after a quick google converting to manual seems to be a good option for both your fuel bills and in comparison to diagnostics. Im sure a few people on here would be willing to lend a hand one weekend if you had all parts sorted. I know this isnt exactly the answer you were looking for but every little helps
(having said that my jeep did it for a while before I got so pissed off with it not engaging I crawled under it on laceby roundabout and smacked the shit out of the box with a shovel I had in the boot, this was when I was 17 and we sold it 2 months ago having it never doing it again)

Re: T4 Auto gearbox
to be fair if you needed a hand then i could lend one, being a mechanic, on it not selecting gears sounds like could be fluid levels low. maybe just check see how much fluid is in the box. could also be a clutch band slipping in the box. there abit complex auto boxes
