Rachel's dirty diesel mk3

I'd promised myself that i'd concentrate on my beetle this year but i can't help myself.

I'm posting from my phone so no picture yet but its very untidy at the minute. Initial thoughts are to they it up with a bit of paint on the front wings, weld repair to the rear arches and paint so its they then lower and cool wheels.

Thanks to caistor i'm now very much considering an homage to "that" bmw. The rat with the roof chop, no paint and 17 inch ronal's. She won't have 17 inch ronal's or a some chop but i an confident i can bet somewhere close to the body finish and i'd like either the shark mouth or something similarly ww2 themed. Wheels? Probably painted steels? Might with permission steal martin's 8 ball idea. Think that would suit the car. Or go silly and let her have my porsche wheels.

Interior? Rock stock and some mild sounds.

Any other ideas and inspiration?

And then using the powers of photoshop, you get mega lols/the worst photoshop ever conceived (just squashed the bimmer into the shape of a mk3 lol)

It is the most awefull piece of photoshoping I have ever done, the only reason I submitted it was for lols as compressing a bimmer looks weird and I have an essay to do for uni

i did but sounds like £ and work!

project has started!

boring stuff. brakes are done so it stops, glow plugs done so it starts.

the door locks were toast (usual vw monkey metal snapping off. my mate is scrapping a 6n polo and i assumed his handles would fit (based on a long shot - seat ibiza handles fit golf 3.5 cabrio and that is basically a mk3. ibiza is a polo. there ends my logic!)

anyway, they slipped striaght in so not only can it now lock but it also has central locking! that works! replaced the rears too. i know its rat but the neatness counts!

next step was to remove, twist and refit the vw badge. i'm rock and roll, me

then i decided to see if i could do something with the rust a la that bmw. rubbed the worst of it off and coated it with kurust - turned blue/black straight away.

next the cut and shut front wing. it is a gti wing with the leading edge and side repeater area of a cl welded in. i exposed the welds and applied kurust.

one of the front tyres was well past legal so i put on the vauxhall wheels from her seat. they have winter tyres and give her a bit of confidence.

that is all for now...

ebay for the stuff and could get it cheaper, just think it would really pull it together on the inside. what weekend we rectifyin gthe paint?

So your mrs actually likes the bimmer then?

she's not seen the bimmer butr likes liam's bonnet and realises the car needs to be rat to carry it off. she also likes being noticed too - she loved driving my pickup after it was slammed

Sounds like a keeper to me dave haha, show her the bimmer when you get in from work. She will love it (dont show her my interpretation lol)

decisions have been made.

as much as i love the bmw i think it would be hard work maintaining the finish. spoke at length to liam last night and we are going grey primer. i think it could look good.

we will have some rust accents herre and there and i am going to do a bit of research into a top drawer show winning "hot rod" that was ratted a while ago. there's details somewhere how they faked the patina

oh and i take it all back about rachel. i told her we are doing a luftwaffe/raf/ww2 theme she turned her nose up and suggested we do it like a frog. with eyes. and a big smile. or a hedgehog.

i slapped her about a bit, don't worry

no pics liam, sorry. it was too dark when we finished last night and she left for uni placement at half 7 this morning.

i knew you'd be asking for pics and i did contemplate getting out of my bed to get you a snap but looked out the window and thought, "meh"

far from slammed but like i mentioned, it needs to be useable by the wife. i quite like the stance it has though, also like the tuck achieved by fitting high offset wheels
