Yeah that's the stuff, as long as you get it centre and follow the intructions of the araldite it won't budge. Never had to do anything to it since, best and cheapest mod I ever did.

Re: Jonnys Moredoor Mk5
I know right!!
Just looking for something special dude!
Also laced these bad boys up today, Happy with the stretch. Remains to be seen if the arches will tuck them though.
Also got my bumper from VW dealership and fitted it this week
And picking the car up from MG raw VAG specialist on monday. Its had the IMF fitted, the EGR cleaned, The Glowplugs replaced and the fault codes reset. The 'Emissions workshop' light is now out apparently. Happy times!
So stage one complete. Now for stage two

Re: Jonnys Moredoor Mk5
Hey guys!
So whilst saving for my coilovers my feet got itchy and i decided to do some work on the car.
Last weekend i had the tyres put onto the AMG wheels i have and this week i lobbed them on to see what they looked like/If they fit.. Heres the evidence:
As you can see they poke quite alot but im hoping with some coilovers i will be able to camber them in a bit, especially the fronts!!
The BBS Monza wheels that i took off have been bought by our very own Dave
And i have sold a bike that i had kicking around for a while
So now i have some cash in the pocket i cannot wait to get the coilovers on. I have also noticed that the number plates have seen better days so im going to get ordering the dubmeister numberplates as soon as i can.
Finally, Since having the car i havent thought much of the printed VW badge on the back of the car:
So set to work at doing the 3D badge thannnng that Tolse told me about (Thanks dude) Which has saved me loadsa money compared to upgrading to a MK6 golf item. I got the part i needed off a MK4 from windleys salvage for a mere £5
It was a really easy job to do and here are the results:
Overall im really happy with the result and although its only a subtle little change it makes a big difference towards making the car look that little bit classier!!
Hopefully next update will have coilovers in it

Re: Jonnys Moredoor Mk5
Thanks dude!
So after 5 days of work, lots of grinding, cuts and brusies, blood and (almost) tears i got the FK sport edition+ coilovers fitted this week. What a mission!! A big thanks to Gary for his moral support and the tools which he lent me that i required. I still need a 3mm spacer on the front as parts of the wheel are catching the coilover so not properly on the road until they arrive however...Heres some pics...
Also dubmeister pressed number plates arrived which arent on in the pics but im very happy with them. Thats Stage 2 done and most of Stage 3 too, But my next priority is Cambelt and waterpump etc as i have no knowledge of when/if they were last done. But once thats out of the way i will be getting an enhancment by Deep Shine Detail. Looking forward to it very much.
Not sure about how the wheels sit as well so putting them on Edition to guage interest and might sell them on for something with a more arch friendly offset.
What are you opinons??

The car looks good the wheels do suit it but they do look a bit to wide.

Re: Jonnys Moredoor Mk5
Thanks guys.
Jord im not convinced on the wheels. Will see once spacers are on and i can test drive it! haha.
The width is the main problem, Also the diameter is throwing off my speedo and computer so apparently im only running 43mpg and should be at least 51mpg!

Re: Jonnys Moredoor Mk5
i think the stance is messed up by too much poke on the fronts, will only be exagerrated with 3mm spacers. they are lovely wheels but the offset isnt ever going to get any better. the car looks spot on from the side but just not right from the front. just my honest thoughts bud.
if i were in your shoes i would sell what you have (got to be looking at 4-500 for wgheels and tyres) then get some 18's in a higher offset

Re: Jonnys Moredoor Mk5
Thanks Dave!
I appreciate your honesty. I think thats probably what i will do. For the meantime the camber from the coils has them sitting at a managable level despite the fitment of the spacers so its comfortable for the time being. Looking at some BBS rep's i reckon, Dont want to be a show stopper. Just want something practical and easy until i have my fianances sorted out
The spacers have made the clearance smaller so the coilovers have had to come up 10mm all round.
However it doesnt look tooo bad and it does handle pretty well. The coils themselves are pretty nice, you can feel the difference the adjustable dampening makes, they have an OEM feel about them but better
I have had a few sets of FK's before and some Vmaxx but these FK sport edition+ are by far the best! To be honest i havent pushed it in the corners much, thought i would take it easy for a while getting used to the stretch ( which i shouldnt drive hard anyway) So will give a proper review later on when i have racked up some miles.
Tomorrow i have a new bonnet catch arriving at VW dealership tomorrow costing £36 odd. Luckily the catch broke while the bonnet was open rather than closed as they are known to do.. Also arriving tomorrow i have a sticker. Sounds a bit geeky but im pretty exited haha. Normally i dont go for gimmicky VW stickers but this one made me chuckle at UD this year and had to get hold of one, Look out for it (Its not as cheesy as you think)
Hopefully joining it on the back window soon will be a Bombercountydubs sticker. But my fingers are hurting from being crossed..

Re: Jonnys Moredoor Mk5
Hey chaps!
Decided to go down a new route on the wheels, Have just ordered some fresh hoops which havent even been made yet. Pretty hyped about it.. Will be about 2 weeks until they arrive.
The cambelt is on its way to being done, the parts are ordered at least. A MASSIVE thanks to Gary (lowlifedubber) for the help getting a good price on the parts and the labour quote.
Also have some small little touches soon to be added which should clean up the car in a subtle way. Lots of inspiration from Elsecar 2012

Re: Jonnys Moredoor Mk5
So its been a while so heres a half update.
My cambelt and other parts have arrived:
My 3SDM 0.01 wheels are still being made but should be getting picked up before the end of the month
And in the meantime i have got to work fixing all the incredibly anoying dashboard plastics in the car. VW have a habbit of fitting their cars with cheap plastic then coating it in a fine rubber compound that after a few years peels off at the corners and scratches too easily.
I have decided to take action against it and bought myself some imitation carbon fibre vinyl wrap off EvilBAY and plan on wrapping all the problem area's of the dash.
The bits to be done are:
The cd player facia
The centre air vent surround
The climate control buttons and screen bit
The side air vents
The headlight switch surround
The silver dash strips and door strips
The ash tray and ash tray surround
Im especially not looking forward to the buttons on the climate control. I have got them off but im gona have to cut a hole in the vinyl where the led lights are so i know if they are on or not not to mention the hole for the screen etc. Its going to be loooong but worth it.
Heres some pictures of the devistation:
Thats all for now Gents. Will post some more pictures up when theres some progress Wish me luck!

Just realized how terrible the pics are
If you right click on the picture and 'view image' you can see them better..
Notice the buttons for the climate control Was mad effort, but worth it

Re: Jonnys Moredoor Mk5
Hey Gents!
So today i went to mansfield and picked up the new hoops from Wheelworx. I can thouroughly reccomend them, as the service and help they gave me was top notch.
Once i got them home i spent the afternoon getting them fitted and the stance right, Heres the proof:
What do you think?
The are 3SDM wheels. 8.5J up front ET 45 and 9.5J ET 40 rear with 215/35 up front and 225/40 rears.
The fronts been dropped about 40mm (which is right at the bottom) and the rears are dropped 25mm. The wheels tuck like a beauté and as far as i can make out they should catch at all.
I plan on putting come more camber on the rear wheels at some point, But need to find somewhere to do it for me as i dont want to rip appart my new tyres.
If anyone knows anywhere that does 4 wheel allignment, Please dont keep it to yourself!
