Don't buy cheap brakes kids...

Enough said. Luckily I investigated a rather irritating brake squeal that only went away when the brakes were applied. Could have been fatal!

Good thing you investigated it, there are plenty of people who'd just live with the noise until they crashed...

They were on it when I got it, but as you can see they aren't very old, and I've done 2k miles in it since I got it. I wish I knew the make of them so I can name and shame!

i just got some new brakes. i would class them as cheap to mid range... hope they are going to be okay

They've been regularly over heated. Or left sitting for a long time. See it quite a lot on cars that have done short hops for years too as the pads get hot faster than the backing.

I've known even big name pads do this especially if the anti rattle shims aren't there.
