The only place you can get away with a 5 door is lincolnshire, it helps fit bails/sheep/dogs/pigs/goats/llamas/shetland ponys in the rear
Re: Adi's GTI powered '86 golf GL

If you brought a llama to the meet I would take it back to lough with me and do a show and tell at uni. Im not sure if a llama can navigate the spiral staircase leading to my base though

As of this morning I have a laid flat rear wiper, and at the meet I got a weighted mk3 shift rod. What a difference!!!! Every mk2 owner needs one!

good to see the beast in the flesh today and ashamed to say i was trying my hardest to keep up with you on the way home!
Re: Adi's GTI powered '86 golf GL
Good to see yours too, been looking forward to it. That guy who sold me the roof bars earlier had a jade green CL, and I'm happy to say it looked a bit rough I have to say when I drove my 217k mile donor car home I was impressed, it pulled as well as any other gti I've had and the engine runs just as well in my car

Marmite mod time! I had a ZX volcane once with this on and I thought it was quite cool. I found some red rim tape in my garage so put it to use on the dash and doors

Most of the chrome was worn off so it was worth a go. Go faster stripes FTW

I bought it years ago, can't remember where from. I still have enough left to do your bumpers and grille. If you can wait till next meet you can have it. You'l have to use a hairdryer on it though for the corners and curves.

Well after a driveshaft decided to come off today and screwing the threads on the gearbox flange, I'm going to have to sort out my 4+E gearbox and get that back on. Was unlucky it happened with a sofa on my roof though

Re: Adi's GTI powered '86 golf GL
Me and Gary managed to get 4 flange bolts out of 6 back in, but I don't trust it to be honest, plus I want the extra MPG's from the 4+E, and it has no 2nd gear syncro syndrome Just gotta get the clutch rod back in, gonna take the end cap off the box tomorrow and hopefully whatever dropped in there will go back together, then I can just swap it over. Any tips for gearbox removal for a weakling such as myself? Out the top or out the bottom? The whole front end was off before so it was much easier but I don't wanna be taking all that off just for a gearbox swap

Good news, the 4+E box it back together and ready to go on the car tomorrow, so no more 2nd gear crunch and hopefully better mpg's

bad news about the driveshaft-ala-sofa...hope the swap goes well
ooo, quick question while we're on gears... the gear knob (golf ball)...I dimly tried to unscrew it today, not realising its push on... whats the deal with that? I want to get myself an eight ball knob but how can I fit one on without threads?

Should be screwed on? Are the threads knackered?
