my mk2 golf

right to be honnest most of you have already seen this car. i brought this car in decembre 2009 and that is where the story starts. after coming back from a vento sale that fell through and a mk3 not being what i wanted i found a golf which could be brought to louth for me to see.
now as soon as i got it, i decided too get some bbs's fitted and some coilovers. these were set to 80mm drop on the front and 70mm on the back.

after this, i decided to put an exhaust on and also start to debadge the rear and get rid of the wiper

after this not much happened for a while, alloys went back to steallies and hieght changed. then...
disaster struck, the 1.6 engine gave out. top end completly chewed itself to pieces and left me with no mk2.

after many hours of searching for a new car a 16v was brought as a donner and the work began.
day 1.
donner and other mk2 were stripped of there front ends, wiring was being swapped like for like as the 2 cars sat opposite next to each other.

dAy 2.
rear axles were swopped over and cars turned round to face each other. black one in the garage. red one out side.
day 3 - 7.
all fuel lines and interiers were swapped. all electrics sorted and plugged.
day 8 - 12.
subframes were swapped and engine put in the red golf.

day 13.
brakes were all bled and car finnally ran up.
day 14.
mot day and passed ready for skegg vegas

and one of it finished

This mk2 has seen many fuel stops,tyres and shed vulgar language with the od cut nd scuff,but well worth it...... id keep it and just tidy it up, end of!!!

i can indeed. wing has been replaced. am getting it all sorted dave. that mk2 looks better than urs. i like the cammo

mate you know that if you ever got rid of it you would never be happy on the road again. Its like a love hate relationship, one day you want to cut all ties and walk away and the next day you cant get enough of it Like i said to you today, once you have sprayed the wings up and other bits and bobs it will stright away look loads better, then when the carbs are on you will have a little sex wee each time you drive it

ive decided to keep it, main reason parkway was fun

well i thought i'd update this thread as am good like that. after a while my drilled discs green stuff pad combo started to let me down. so what got brought was red stuff pads for the front. drilled, grooved disks and green stuff pads for the rear.

after this swapped my wheels again.

then another set that i had to roll my arches to get it as low down as i wanted it.

also as u can see replaced that wing.
next plans are to swap the rear axle as its bent now and spray all arches. smooth off door strips and put bbs's back on so i can wide the coilovers all the way down.
i did how ever go alittle sticker mad the other day.

and that is all for now i should think but i'll update when i have done something else

I do like the stickers but my favs are the ones on the bonnet. You will have to let me know if you want any other stickers as im gettig a few over the next month or so, worth ordering them together and postage will be free then.

al see what i want. martin normally donates his free ones to me and i use them if i like them, if not then i dont. simples. i just want bike carbs on.

well my mate said that he will do a load for me for a really good price, £15 for 50 different vw stickers, i just need to choose the ones i want and he will do them If you have any you want let me know and i will sort them out, dont woorry about paying as i will sort it, i wont be able to think of 50 different ones plus dont want that many.

ash its cos thats what is needed for ultimate stance. i'll roll your arches for you mate. you buy the stuff needed, cover my fuel and make the brews i will do it.

well in that case built to be driven, built not bought, project neg. them 3 stickers in red wll be fine. or project neg in black

You could one in black and one in white if you want, then decide which on to put on and have the other as a spare.

well built not bought in white. project neg in black and other one in black aswell will do mate and then if you come up with some good ones tell me and al have them in white, the ones i like.

well some major updates are coming up as that meet gets closer, car needs to be roughly all on ecolour, so shit is going down to get neg ready for the up and coming show season. keep an eye on this page

I've always wondered why some mk2s running 16s have positive camber on the rear

its not actually positive, close put that scos im in need of a new axle. lol. well spotted though
